Marcite Pool Resurfacing in Orlando, FL

Classic White Plaster, Done Right

Marcite is the traditional white pool plaster, made with white cement and marble dust. It gives the water that bright, light-blue color most people picture when they think of a pool, and it is smooth underfoot and the most affordable way to resurface.

It is also where our name comes from: Classic Marcite has been resurfacing pools in Orlando since 1988, and our own crews still apply marcite on screened backyard pools, community pools and commercial pools every week.

Signs Your Plaster Needs Resurfacing

Plaster wears with time, sun and water chemistry. When you see these, it is time to look at resurfacing:

  • A rough surface that snags swimsuits or scrapes feet
  • Stains or discoloration that brushing won't remove
  • Etching, pitting or chalky patches
  • Flaking or hollow spots where the plaster has come loose
  • Cracks in the finish

How We Replaster a Pool

Every step is done by Classic Marcite employees:

  1. Drain. The pool is drained and the water level and equipment are protected
  2. Prepare. Loose and hollow plaster is removed and the surface is prepared so the new coat bonds
  3. Repair. Cracks are repaired and fittings and tile are checked
  4. Plaster. The crew trowels the new marcite smooth across the whole pool
  5. Start up. The pool is filled right away and the water is brushed and balanced while the plaster cures

Marcite Questions

What is the difference between marcite and plaster?

In Florida they usually mean the same thing: a white cement and marble finish. Quartz and pebble finishes are upgrades on the same idea with harder aggregates.

Can marcite include tile or mosaics?

Yes. Accent tiles, step trim and mosaics such as turtles or fish are set before the new plaster goes on.

Why does the start-up matter?

New plaster cures in the water for weeks. Careful brushing and balanced water chemistry during that time keep the finish smooth and even.
